Peer Support

PEER SUPPORT PROGRAM

During Term 3 each year the Year5/6 leaders and co-leaders run a whole school Peer Support Program one afternoon a week.

There are 23 groups in the Peer Support Program with five or six children in each group. The groups then systematically work their way through a variety of specially designed tasks.

The Peer Support Program develops and reinforces values that are embedded in our school culture such as co-operation, caring, sharing, encouragement and respect for everyone. All the children benefit from this program and thoroughly enjoy each session.

The success of the Program is evident in the confident and caring behaviours the group leaders demonstrate when they act as responsible role models and mentors to the students in their groups.

The final session for the Program each year is a ‘Peer Support Party".  All children are invited to "come out of uniform", contribute to the yummy party food and have a great time.
